CHURCH AND KACHIN CULTURE ASSOCIATION HELP CIVIL WAR REFUGEE IN KACHIN STATE BURMA

Since June 09,2011 Civil war broke out in all Kachin State between KIA and Burma army still continue fiercely today. Many Kachin people have displace due Burma solders had burnt the houses and looted the villages. The soldiers were also committed rape women and torture the Kachin people. Therefore the villagers from KIA control area No.4 in Shan State were flee to Muse, mungbaw, Mungji, Kutkai, Nampakka, Mai Ja Yang and China border village Shwili. They are fear of Burma solders brutality killing, torture, rapping and looting.

Kachin culture and Literature Association(JLH) in Shan State, KIA control are No.4 have donated kyat 200,000 for those villagers effected by Civil war in that area. JLH leaders and members have also visited Civil war victims in Shan State between 23 to 31 October 2011 and encourage them. Kachin Baptist Convention leader Rev. Hkalam Sam Sun and youth leaders were also visited Civil War victims in the same place in KIA control area No. 4 on 28 to 31 October. They have distributed foods, blankets and some money to the victims.

According to one of the villagers, Burma military government has restricting to build shelter for the victims and not recognized the Civil War victims as refugee instead of helping them. Therefore all the victims are staying in nearby relative house, Church and Buddhist temple. Especially in remote area villages, the soldier are abusing the village as they wish.

The military government has also issued restriction to NGO not to help the refugee or the victims affect by the Civil War. For instance Word Food NGO has submitted request to military government one month ago to allow them to distribute urgent need of supply such as rice to Mungbaw and Mungji province but still not grant permission yet.

All the Churches and Kachin people are helping the refugees of Civil War in Kachin State as much as they could. Therefore we Kachin people urge the world and UN on behalf of Kachin Refuge in Kachin State to land your helping hand and they are shortage of basic need such foods, water, clothing, medicine and shelter urgently.
