INTERNATIONAL ANTI DRUG DAY WAS CELEBRATED IN MAIJA YANG

The celebration started at 8:00 AM in the morning at the town hall, with remark by B.C. Tawng La on the issue of drug in Kachin region, the KIO's stand point that Drug and narcotic as common enemy of the nation, and responsibility to eradication of drug lies with every citizen, and drug control strategy developed by Central Narcotic Control Committee of the KIO which includes community led prevention, control of drug trafficking and action on users and traffickers. 

The event was followed by outdoor marching in Mai Ja Yang town with slogan: Commitment to eradication drug: which is main enemy of the nation, which is major enemy of human kind, and to eradicate drug from our land forever. 

The event was joined by about 5000 people: Service men, staff of the KIO's health department, education department, forest, immigration, police, nurse, legal aid, students, women  and other civil society organisations in the area, and the Internally Displaced Persons living in Pa Kahtawng Camps in Mai Ja Yang. 

The event finished about 11:00 AM in the morning.
