The Burmese government’s troops violated the agreement signed between the KIO and the Union Peace-making Work Committee on October 10, 2013. The estimated 1,000 troops from two Burmese Army battalions forcefully entered and occupied Namlim Pa areas.

The same time, Burmese Army Infantry Battalions 45, 56, 236, 240, 276, 601 and 602 under Bhamo based 21st Military Operations Command (MOC-21) encroached Kong Ja village and fire small and heavy artilleries toward Mung Ding Pa IDP camp and then captured the IDP camp today at 11:30 a.m. More than 1,500 IDPs, taking shelter in Namlim Pa have been moving to safer areas where the incapacitated IDPs are taking shelter in the village church.

The Burmese troops’ heavy military reinforcement and operation began soon after the KIA withdrawn its troops from on the Kaihtik - Bhamo motorway to reopen motorway.
