Kachin film screening in Rangoon

An ethnic movie titled 'Seeking love in evergreen forest', with Burmese subtitles, for the first time will begin screening in Rangoon from August 21.

This is the first ever screening of a Kachin film with Burmese subtitles in Rangoon. It will be screened in the Shwe Man Cinema in Sanchaung Township starting tomorrow for a week.

"This is the first ever screening of a Kachin movie in Rangoon. It is a first for Shwe Man cinema too. Kachin is an ethnic nationality of Burma. We are screening the film to encourage them to go in for more productions as we are all ethnic nationalities of the same country," Shwe Man Cinema Manager Sandar told Mizzima.

The plot is based on the love story of young Kachin people in northern Burma’s Kachin State. The theme is laced with environmental protection and the customs of the indigenous ethnic people.

This film has been produced and directed by Gi Zong Ki. Actors Naw Mai, Mon San and actresses Sai Ja, Jar Bauk, and Khon Lun have starred in the film. The film’s editing was done at Char Multi-Media Production (CMP) in Kyimyindaing, Rangoon. The sound mixing and dubbing were done at Studio-D.

A CMP functionary said, "There are glacier scenes in the film. It is good to see films and videos of ethnic people entering the market".

"We can't say yet what kind of response it will generate among the audience as it will be the first ever screening of such a film. Though it is a Kachin film, it more like Korean soaps. I think it will succeed," Sandar said speculating on audience response.
